Since coming on
stream in 1983 Hadeed Steel has made an
increasingly significant, often highly
visible, contribution to the infrastructure
and commercial development, not only of the
Kingdom, but also of some 34 countries
across the region and beyond.
The
success of any industry depends on the
extent of its competitiveness in the
international markets. Doubtlessly, the
steel industry is the backbone of the
industrial progress for any community.
Therefore, care was taken at an early stage
in establishing a strong steel industry in
our country, and the necessary resources
were provided. These resources include
logistics such as providing natural gas,
electricity, and utilities that are able to
receive raw materials and export steel
products. We already have in the Kingdom an
integrated plant that uses the direct
reduction process and adopts state of the
art technologies to produce long products
including rebar, wire rod, light sections
and flat products.
An integrated
steel complex like that of Hadeed Company,
is considered a source of pride for the
country and a significant achievement which
enabled the Kingdom to rank fifth in the
world among iron producers who use the
direct reduction process.
It also occupies a strategic position among
the largest steel producers in the world.
This was the result of efforts over two
decades during which many challenges were
encountered and surmounted thanks to Allah
and then to the support of the government.

The Company's
attention is focused on customer
satisfaction, development of products and
research, and quality control; however, the
main concern from the beginning has been
emphasizing investment in the national
manpower since it is the real capital of the
Company.
The Company's
long-term investment in a combination of
advanced technologies with a highly trained
and motivated workforce has been the key
factor in bringing us to this point in our
development.
Today
Hadeed is the largest steel manufacturing
company in the Middle East and one of the
largest fully integrated complexes of its
kind in the world, and it is an active
member in the Arab Iron and Steel Union and
the International
Iron and
Steel Institute.
As proud
as we are of our business results and our
corporate growth, we are also proud of our
efforts, not only in protecting the
environment but also, where possible, in
enhancing it.
At Hadeed,
we are keenly aware of, and fully support,
the notion that the success of any major
enterprise is increasingly measured in terms
of its impact on society at large, and that
sound corporate ethics are today the very
cornerstone of institutional prestige. We
believe it falls most pressingly to
prominent industrial corporations.
We face
the future with a high degree of optimism
and the certainty that that the domesticated
steel industry will prove an increasingly
valuable asset as its contribution to the
national economy continues to grow. Already
Hadeed has saved the economy some 20 billion
Saudi Riyals - about 5.3 billion dollars,
which would otherwise have been spent on
steel products from abroad. It has generated
over 30,000 jobs in the steel industry
itself and in related manufacturing and
service industries, and today the Company's
added value is worth well over 3 billion
dollars.
The role of
Hadeed is not only restricted to production
of reinforcing steel and selling it at the
highest price possible. Hadeed is aware of
the significant role of the iron and steel
industry in the industrial development due
to its close association with several other
industries that use Hadeed products such as
furniture, house appliances, pipes, car and
ship industries, and construction. Steel
industry is also closely related to
industries such as mining, refractories,
ferroalloys, chemical industries, equipment
and spare parts. Furthermore, steel industry
is closely associated with the utility and
services sector where steel products are
used extensively in power, water and
transportation utilities. The main role of
course is to provide job vacancies for the
sons of this country.
