PLANS FOR FUTURE
EXPANSION
Hadeed’s flat facility commenced commercial
production in July 2000 with a design capacity
of 850,000 tonnes. The site is designed to be
capable of accommodating planned expansions
that will raise the annual production capacity
to 2 million tonnes of hot rolled, cold rolled
and galvanised products.
The plan includes constructing an additional
direct reduction module, an electric arc
furnace, a ladle furnace, a steel slab casting
machine, a slab reheating furnace and a
finishing mill stand.
RESEARCH
Various studies are being carried out by
SABIC R&T on a regular basis to emphasise the
merits of Hadeed's products and also in
connection with process and product
development; productivity improvement etc.
SABIC R&T and KFUPM RI have undertaken
independent studies on Hadeed discoloured
rebars and proved that discolouration has no
effect on the properties of rebars.
Furthermore, a comparitive study is also made
with rebars from other sources whereby
superiority of Hadeed rebars is established. A
study has also been undertaken to determine
the effect of seams on rebar properties. |
